Impact of Meshed HVDC Grid Operation and Control on the Dynamics of AC/DC Systems

The efficacy of long-distance and bulk power transmission largely depends on the efficient control reliable operation a multiterminal high-voltage direct current (MT-HVdc) grid, more precisely, meshed HVdc grid. capability enduring dc grid fault eventually enhances reliability improves dynamic performance This article investigates an AC/multiterminal (MTDC) system with bipolar topology incorporating protection schemes. Based scale circuit breaker's operating time, three different strategies is compared analyzed using DIgSILENT PowerFactory. Simulation results explicitly reveal that MTDC significantly deteriorates slow functioning schemes, followed by fault.
